My main areas of interest are Hip Replacement, Knee Replacement, Arthroscopic (keyhole) Knee Surgery, Hip Fractures and General Trauma.

I am registered as a fee assured consultant with BUPA, AXA, AVIVA and all other major insurance companies.

I qualified in 1995 from University of Wales College of Medicine with Commendation. Originally from Lancashire, I returned to the northwest in 1996 for my basic surgical training, which I completed in 1998. From 1999, I spent three years at the Manchester Medical School conducting research into how cells behave when human bone heals after it has broken. For this I was awarded a PhD. I started his higher surgical training in 2003 and passed my FRCS (Tr & Orth) exam in 2007. In 2009, I visited the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota and completed a Visiting Clinician’s Fellowship before working as a Consultant at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital in the Arthroplasty Unit. In 2010, I was appointed as a substantive consultant at the prestigious Salford Royal Hospital Foundation Trust.

I am a very keen sportsman who has been involved in many sports over the years. I have played badminton and squash at university team level, and have been a keen cyclist and swimmer. Currently, I run for a local Athletic Club in the veterans division. I have completed 2 marathons, the last one in just over 3 hours. I run 30-40 miles a week regularly and have a keen interest exercise physiology and athletic performance.
